Introduction to occupational health services
Occupational Health and Safety is a discipline concerned with the safety, health and welfare of people in the workplace. Legislation regulates occupational health and safety inspection and enforcement; and as stated in Section 8 of the Occupational Health and Safety Act No. 85 of 1993:
“ Every employer shall provide and maintain, as far as is reasonably practicable, a working environment that is safe and without risk to the health of its employees. “

Surveillance tests
(Fit-for-duty evaluations) are risk based and may include the following procedures:
- Full Physical Examination
Blood Pressure, Blood Glucose, Drug Screening - Eye Test
Snellen Chart or Keystone vision screening - X-ray Interpretation and Evaluation
- Labratory Screening Tests
e.g Cholionesterase as required by the appropriate industry standards
Training and
Education
With our wide skills base we can offer education and training for employees in a variety of subjects. These include training on hearing conservation as directed by the Noise Induced Hearing Loss Regulation by a registered Audiologist.
Back-care and Fitness education can be presented by our Physiotherapist. Our Registered Nurse can offer Wellness Programmes and Wellness Days.
Social Development Workshops are also offered. These are done by a variety of professionals in their applicable field. These include psychiatric health nurses, an occupational therapist, a physiotherapist, dieticians, financial advisors, spiritual counselors, pharmacists and more.
The programme is adapted according to the literacy potential of the participants.
